Dave Hansen :: Bachelor of Architecture

David Hansen is in his fifth year of the Bachelor of Architecture program. He was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, having also lived in Los Angeles.

Before coming to the BAC, Dave studied at Boston University and UCLA, and previously worked for accounting, business strategy consulting and accounting software development companies. His previous professional experience prepared him well for both the analytical side of architecture – the number-crunching aspects - and the problem-solving aspects – having the flexibility to adjust to changing requirements and any issues that arise.

David was intrigued by Tara Ward's Architectural History B course as a phenomenal introduction and explanation of modern architecture. Also, Nora Rubinstein's Environmental Psychology course was an amazing doorway to experiencing and thinking about architecture from a much larger and more encompassing perspective.

David currently serves as Treasurer for the BAC NOMAS (National Organization Of Minority Architects) and is a Teaching Assistant for the Year One Seminar course with Herb Childress, PhD.

Through a Gateway Project with fellow BAC students and advisers from the Landing Studio for the Department of Neighborhood Development, David had the chance to meet with Mayor Menino's “Food Czar,” Edith Murnane, to discuss community gardens.

Most recently, he won third place at the 2011 NOMA Student Design Competition along with teammates Chris McIntosh, Delia Gott and Jahim Baskerville in Atlanta this October. Take a look at their winning work here.
