Marcus Hamblin is in his second year of the Bachelor of Interior Design program. He grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah and has been drawing floor plans and moving furniture around since a child. He studied interior design for 2 years in Salt Lake City before transferring to the BAC, simultaneously working as a design consultant for a tile showroom. During this time he also owned his own design consulting company, where he redesigned residential spaces.
Marcus has worked for Tile Showcase doing kitchen and bath design consulting, and recently accepted a position at ADD Inc. in Boston. He is an Intern Interior Designer with the residential team doing multi-family housing and condo spaces.
Moving to Boston was huge change for him. He moved here with a determined mindset and has done all he can to influence others in a positive way. During his time here, he founded the BAC Interior Design Society and served as president in the 2010-11 school year. He is currently Vice President of Atelier (the BAC Student Government) and is a student member of ASID (American Society of Interior Designers) and IIDA (International Interior Design Association). He also serves as a Student Ambassador to welcome new students during orientation. Marcus has seen a lot of success in building community among the interior design students and the entire student body.
Marcus was introduced to interior design when a friend suggested that he take a class because it was obvious that it interested him. He is involved in design because he loves people, connecting with others and positively affecting their lives. “As designers, we have control over the environments in which people live, work and play,” he says, “consequently, our ability to influence them is exponential.”
